What distinguishes Sopra Steria’s expertise and solutions in the Defence & Security field from other major integrators?

Sopra Steria is a defence and digital security specialist that designs, develops and deploys sovereign technology solutions covering the entire security continuum. This unique position is based on a comprehensive, integrated approach to security that covers cybersecurity, physical security and operational resilience.

The Group is active across the entire value chain, from strategic consulting and programme design to implementation and operational maintenance. As a defence and digital security company, the Group develops and deploys innovative, sovereign solutions.

Its strength lies in its ability to connect the digital and physical worlds:

  • Securing and protecting critical sites with a holistic approach to security, integrating interconnected systems (access control, radars, video surveillance, anti-drone systems, cybersecurity) around a centralised hypervisor
  • Coordinating robotic entities for operations and area surveillance
  • Ensuring the compliance of critical information systems
  • Deploying mobile decision-making and investigation support systems
  • Ensuring security continuity, from the field to the command centre, on land, at sea or in the air.

This expertise in the security continuum (from mobile agents to command posts) makes Sopra Steria a trusted partner for protecting national and local territories, infrastructure and people.

How does Sopra Steria work with government agencies, armed forces, and industrial partners to co-create secure and effective solutions?

Sopra Steria is a long-term partner of major public and institutional clients in France and Europe, including the Ministry of the Armed Forces, the Ministry of the Interior, the Ministry of Justice, European agencies such as eu-LISA and NATO, and operators of vital importance.

  • In the field of defence, the Group is involved in cyber defence, command, operational maintenance and intelligence.
  • For homeland security, it develops solutions at the heart of public missions: police files, border control, digital identity, road safety, site protection, crisis management and anti-drone measures.
  • For civil security, it provides operations management and crisis management solutions.
  • It also contributes to the modernisation of judicial and prison systems.
  • At the European level, Sopra Steria builds and supports large shared security and migration systems, such as sBMS, the Schengen System and EURODAC, which are based on biometric technologies and massive databases.

Through its presence at all strategic, operational and technological levels, Sopra Steria is helping to structure a European model of integrated digital security based on sovereignty, innovation and efficiency.

What is Sopra Steria showcasing at Milipol Paris 2025. How does this reflect your broader strategy?

Sopra Steria's stand at Milipol 2025 is presenting a comprehensive offering based on three business areas and a cross-disciplinary area around AI, illustrating the diversity and complementarity of its expertise in the fields of defence and security:

  1. Resilience and security of critical entities: the Group is presenting its solutions dedicated to protecting sensitive sites and vital infrastructure. These combine physical security and cybersecurity in an integrated approach, with real-time monitoring and threat simulation using digital twins. Demonstrations will highlight intelligent video analysis, intrusion detection and the coordination of anti-drone devices.

  2. Investigation and everyday security: The Group is showcasing its sovereign digital and biometric tools for identification, authentication and securing border crossings or in the context of criminal investigations. These solutions, already used by internal security forces, contribute to the protection of citizens and the modernisation of investigation processes.

  3. Command, crisis management and emergency response: Demonstrations will also focus on the command and crisis management platforms developed by Sopra Steria. These systems facilitate risk anticipation, emergency response coordination and real-time management of major events by promoting cooperation between different emergency services through the integration of robotics, indoor geolocation, spatial data analysis, etc.

  4. Artificial intelligence and operational excellence: Finally, Sopra Steria is presenting the cross-disciplinary applications of artificial intelligence for security missions. AI is present in all of our solutions, supporting analysis, decision-making and operational action. Examples of use cases include automatic transcription and summarisation of complaints, fingerprint recognition, detection of suspicious maritime activity and automated generation of regulatory documents. These technologies demonstrate the growing integration of AI into public security and crisis management systems.

These concrete demonstrations illustrate the Group's strategy: integrated, sovereign and responsible security that combines technology, anticipation and action.

Are there any recent developments you would like to share with us?

Our priorities are in line with our commitment to security that is sovereign, responsible and human-centred. We are moving cautiously towards the integration of trusted AI, designed to support critical missions while ensuring that its uses and limitations are well managed.

In concrete terms, we are working on highly targeted uses: assistance in drafting reports or decrees, automatic pre-filling of forms, consistency checks between administrative files, and assistance in summarising investigation reports. These developments are based in particular on IAKA, our sovereign generative AI platform dedicated to supervision and decision-making support. Designed for organisations with highly sensitive operations (defence, security, energy, transport or public services), it enhances real-time analysis and action capabilities while ensuring data control and protection.

The data processed is hosted in sovereign environments, protected by encryption, with traceability and tight management of access rights depending on user profiles. We also adopt a data-centric approach, which involves protecting the data itself, regardless of where it is stored or how it is shared, without complicating the work of users.

Finally, we design field analysis tools for better operational planning and crisis response.

All of this work has the same goal: to harness technological innovation to enhance security, trust and sovereignty.
