Every two years, Milipol Paris gathers the global security and defence community at Paris Nord Villepinte to showcase innovation, expertise and operational excellence. In 2025, one of the show’s most eagerly awaited attractions is the Demo Arena, a fully redesigned, expanded space where the extraordinary becomes routine.
This year’s Arena pushes the limits of immersion, allowing visitors to witness elite tactical interventions and dynamic demonstrations from both specialised units and industry exhibitors. It is a place where operational mastery meets cutting-edge equipment, and where visitors gain a rare insight into the world usually hidden behind classified doors, the world of France’s most elite forces: RAID, GIGN, DOPC/BI, and the Sécurité Civile.
DOPC/BI: Precision and control in the urban landscape
The first major demonstration on Wednesday 19 November at 11:30 AM will feature the Brigade d’Intervention (BI) of the Direction de l’Ordre Public et de la Circulation (DOPC), the Paris’ specialist intervention unit.
Operating within one of the most complex urban environments in the world, the DOPC plays a central role in ensuring public safety across Paris and its surrounding areas, overseeing public order, managing traffic, and securing major events and institutions.
The BI, a specialist unit within the DOPC, provides tactical support during complex and high-risk situations. Its members are trained for rapid deployment in demanding urban settings, maintaining discipline and precision amid fast-evolving challenges. Their participation at Milipol Paris will highlight the daily professionalism and adaptability required of law enforcement in the capital.
GIGN: Masters of crisis
Later that day, at 1:30 PM, the spotlight shifts to the (Groupe d’Intervention de la Gendarmerie Nationale), one of the world’s most respected special operations forces. Formed in 1974 in response to the rise of international terrorism, the GIGN specialises in counter-terrorism, hostage rescue, and the protection of critical national interests in France and abroad. Operating under the Gendarmerie Nationale, its members undergo one of the most selective and demanding training programmes in existence. Whether storming a building, neutralising a threat, or rescuing hostages, GIGN’s approach is built on intelligence, precision, and mental discipline. Their motto, “To save lives without losing any,” defines each movement and every decision they make. The demonstration promises to be an unforgettable moment of tactical excellence and controlled power.
Sécurité Civile: Responding when every second counts
On Thursday 20 November at 11:30 AM, the focus will turn to France’s Civil Security (Sécurité Civile), the national emergency response body overseen by the Interior Ministry. Unlike the combat-oriented missions of RAID or GIGN, Sécurité Civile operates where natural and technological disasters strike. Its teams of firefighters, pilots, rescue specialists and emergency planners intervene in earthquakes, floods, wildfires, industrial accidents and humanitarian crises both in France and abroad. At Milipol Paris, their presence will highlight the essential role they play in safeguarding populations during emergencies.
RAID: Elite tactical excellence and national protection
Also on Thursday 20 November at 1:30 PM, the RAID (Recherche, Assistance, Intervention, Dissuasion) unit of the National Police will take command of the Arena. Founded in 1985 and based in Bièvres, RAID leads France’s counter-terrorism and hostage-rescue operations for the Police Nationale. Its operatives, known for their black uniforms and flawless coordination, handle the nation’s most complex and dangerous missions, from neutralising armed assailants to rescuing civilians during terrorist attacks. Their participation at Milipol Paris reflects their central role in national security, revealing how split-second decisions and team synergy define the success of critical interventions.
Behind the Scenes of Excellence
Beyond the spectacular nature of each demonstration lies a deeper message: these are not performances but reflections of real missions carried out daily by the men and women who safeguard France. Whether confronting armed threats in urban environments, responding to crises across the country, or leading international rescue missions, each of these units embodies professionalism, innovation and commitment.
For visitors, the Demo Arena offers a chance to grasp the complexity of modern security: how elite units, technology providers, and public authorities act to face the unpredictable. All demonstrations are free to attend, subject to space availability. Visitors are encouraged to arrive early and experience the energy, precision and professionalism that define these units.
As the countdown to Milipol Paris 2025 continues, anticipation builds for an edition that will not only showcase the latest technologies but also honour the people who make security possible, through expertise, innovation and courage.
