In a key move to bolster emergency medical response in Lao PDR, the World Health Organization (WHO) has partnered with global shelter specialist Alpinter to enhance the country’s Emergency Medical Team (EMT) capacity.

The recently implemented initiative is part of a broader effort to achieve national EMT certification and strengthen preparedness for natural disasters and health emergencies.

At the heart of this development is the deployment of Alpinter’s HUB tents, advanced field structures designed specifically for emergency scenarios. These tents serve as the primary infrastructure for a self-contained, mobile field hospital—an essential asset for rapid response in remote or disaster-affected regions. Known for their robust design, ease of setup, and operational flexibility, Alpinter’s HUB tents are tailored to support triage, coordination, and treatment operations in demanding environments.

Complementing the HUB shelters are Alpinter’s XPERT tents, which provide insulated and climate-controlled spaces ideal for patient care, staff rest areas, and consultation rooms. Both models are engineered to meet the logistical standards set by WHO for EMT deployment, offering durability and adaptability across varied terrains.

Alpinter, headquartered in Belgium, is widely recognised for its high-performance shelter solutions and emergency relief products. In addition to field tents, the company supplies sleeping bags, thermal blankets, and non-food items to humanitarian organisations worldwide. With decades of experience, Alpinter has become a trusted partner for governments, NGOs, and UN agencies operating in crisis zones.

This latest deployment in Lao PDR underscores Alpinter’s ongoing commitment to humanitarian support. By enabling EMT teams to operate more efficiently and safely, Alpinter’s innovative shelter systems are helping to save lives and equip response teams wherever preparedness and rapid mobilisation are essential.
